Winners once again

28 June, 2022

The Good George trophy cabinet started the week with a repeat instalment thanks to our recent win at the annual NZIPA competition. Held at Smith’s Craft Beer House in Queenstown, this year saw 35 entries compete to showcase the best of New Zealand’s brewing ingredients under a very specific beer style category – New Zealand IPA.

Haze of Glory brought home the glory for a second year in a row, along with one of craft beer’s most unique trophies, the coveted Smith Snowboard. To say that our brewers are stoked would be an understatement, and to celebrate, we’re tapping the only batch of this brew in the following locations.

Auckland

• Good George North Wharf

• Good George Taproom Mission Bay

• Beer Spot Whangaparoa

• Liquorland Forrest Hill

Waikato

• Good George Dining Hall

• Good Neighbour, Rototuna

• Good Union, Cambridge

• The Merchant, Matamata

Bay of Plenty

• Good Local, Pyes Pa

• Good Eastern Taphouse, Rotorua

Wellington

• Wild Kiwi, Upper Hutt

• Little Beer Quarter (7th July)

Dunedin

• Ombrellos

Haze of Glory (7% ABV) looks golden and hazy with a clean white foam. Its sweet malt flavour and light fruity esters from the yeast give a great stage for our rockstar NZ hop varieties to perform on, and the mouthfeel can be described as rich, creamy, and smooth. The NZ hops that went into this brew (Nectaron, Riwaka, Nelson Sauvin and NZH-102) give it a massive hop kick, juicy mouthfeel, and a huge tropical hop aroma.

We’re currently working on brewing the second batch, so make sure you’re on our database to be the first to hear when it’s available in squealers.
